Showcase dancers go beyond technique to develop important life skills, learning to be respectful, confident, and conscientious young people who share their gifts and talents with our community and beyond.

Your student is given the opportunity to be recognized for academic success and positive character traits throughout the season.  We invite middle school and high dancers to gain leadership skills by participating in our Star Leadership Program, Student-Teacher Program, and our National Honor Society of Dance Arts chapter.

STAR LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

The Star Leadership program is a nationally recognized youth leadership curriculum used by over hundreds of dance studios and youth organizations around the world. 
 
It’s mission is to grow young leaders who impact others Here, Near and Far. Here in our local communities, Near in our surrounding city and Far in our world. The Star Leadership Curriculum is designed on the the 5 points on the star to encapsulate successful and respected leadership traits such as (Trust, Serve, Love, Growth, and Excellence). The program covers important character core values such as kindness, perseverance, gratitude and goal setting. Potential topics covered could include; compound effect, servant leadership, empathy and sympathy, healthy ways to use social media, time management and organization, taking initiative, failing forward and money matters.

The class meets once a month. Please register to confirm class time.

STUDENT TEACHER PROGRAM

Internship Description: Showcase Dance Studio provides an in-house student training program for students who are interested in becoming dance teachers. Students will work side by side with a tenured teacher once a week. In addition, students will be assigned to a class that is appropriate for their age, ability, and level of experience. Students will be selected after all student teacher applications have been reviewed. Our program runs from August to June. This internship program is free of charge to those who meet our guidelines.

  • Forms due by 8/12 and Training on 8/24 time TBA

Guidelines

  • Students are at least 12 yrs. old
  • Students have danced a minimum of 1 year at Showcase Dance Studio
  • Students take at least 4 hours of class a week.  (Ballet is a prerequisite).
  • Students are responsible and will email Ms. Meg 24 hours in advance if they will be absent.  Students are expected to treat this position like a job.
  • Student arrives on-time to class
  • Students dress in the appropriate attire to help instruct class. Studio dress code is followed while assisting/taking class.
  • While in school, in public, or at the dance studio students are expected to be responsible and respectful representatives of our school.
  • Student is a positive role model
  • Students enjoy working with children.
  • Students must respond positively to teacher evaluations and constructive criticism during their tenure as a student teacher.

*Student teachers who miss more than 3 assigned student teacher classes and do not follow Student Teacher guidelines will be immediately dismissed from the program.

    Showcase Dance Studio is proud of our students! That’s why we are a part of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts. We look forward to recognizing our exceptional dance students for their outstanding artistic merit, leadership, and academic achievement in the field of dance.

You must have a high energy level to match our students’ enthusiasm for dance. Candidates need to possess excellent presentation through professionalism, punctuality and a thorough knowledge of dance.
