Showcase dancers go beyond technique to develop important life skills, learning to be respectful, confident, and conscientious young people who share their gifts and talents with our community and beyond.

Your student is given the opportunity to be recognized for academic success and positive character traits throughout the season.  We invite middle school and high dancers to gain leadership skills by participating in our Star Leadership Program, Student-Teacher Program, and our National Honor Society of Dance Arts chapter.

STAR LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

The Star Leadership program is a nationally recognized youth leadership curriculum used by over hundreds of dance studios and youth organizations around the world. 
 
It’s mission is to grow young leaders who impact others Here, Near and Far. Here in our local communities, Near in our surrounding city and Far in our world. The Star Leadership Curriculum is designed on the the 5 points on the star to encapsulate successful and respected leadership traits such as (Trust, Serve, Love, Growth, and Excellence). The program covers important character core values such as kindness, perseverance, gratitude and goal setting. Potential topics covered could include; compound effect, servant leadership, empathy and sympathy, healthy ways to use social media, time management and organization, taking initiative, failing forward and money matters.

The class meets once a month. Please register to confirm class time.

STUDENT TEACHER INTERNSHIP

Join Showcase Dance Studio's in-house student training program to become a student teacher! Gain invaluable experience working alongside our tenured instructors, with classes carefully assigned based on age, ability, and experience. Our program runs from August to June, offering an immersive internship at no cost to eligible applicants. Students who excel in our program and leave a lasting impression on our instructors and fellow students will be considered for future teaching positions. Start your journey toward becoming an exceptional dance teacher today!

Mandatory Training on 8/23 5:00-7:30pm

Internships Offered:

Junior Assistant - Created for dancers (ages 9-10) you will have the opportunity to learn and grow in a supportive environment. You will assist our instructors during classes, help walk students to the restroom, and memorize/demonstrate your classes' dance curriculum/recital choreography. This hands-on experience will enhance your dance skills and teach you leadership skills. As a Junior Assistant, you'll have the chance to inspire and mentor younger dancers while deepening your passion for dance. *A teacher recommendation is required for this program.
Student Teacher - Designed for aspiring dancers (ages 11-18), you will embark on an enriching journey where you can refine your dance skills while mentoring fellow dancers. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, you will assist in teaching dance classes by taking attendance, demonstrating steps, and helping dancers master dance skills. This internship offers a unique opportunity to develop your teaching abilities, enhance your understanding of dance techniques, and strengthen your leadership skills.
Teacher Training Program - Tailored for dancers (ages 16-17) who aspire to join our SDS teaching staff, begin by shadowing experienced teachers and gradually take on leading roles in class, including warm-ups, center work, and across-the-floor combinations. Develop effective teaching skills, such as counting students in, memorizing curriculums, adapting to diverse learning styles, and the art of creating choreography. Receive personalized feedback in a supportive environment that encourages growth and development. After successfully completing the program, you will have honed your classroom management and instructional skills and will be ready to lead a class on your own.

You must have a high energy level to match our students’ enthusiasm for dance. Candidates need to possess excellent presentation through professionalism, punctuality and a thorough knowledge of dance.
