Recital season is one of the most exciting times of the year at Showcase Dance Studio. It’s when all the hard work, growth, and dedication from the season come together on stage.
Our 2026 Recital “Legendary” will take place on Saturday, June 13th at 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM at the Hylton Performing Arts Center. Families can find all recital details, including schedules and important updates here: https://sites.google.com/showcase.dance/sdsrecital/home
For many dancers, this time of year brings a mix of excitement, pride, and a few nerves. With the right support at home, your dancer can walk into the recital feeling confident, prepared, and ready to shine.
One of the biggest confidence builders is consistency. Encourage your dancer to attend each class leading up to recital, stay focused during lessons, and ask questions when they need help. When dancers feel prepared, their confidence naturally follows.
At home, a little practice can go a long way, as long as it stays positive and low-pressure. Instead of correcting them, invite your dancer to teach you what they’ve learned in class. This helps reinforce their memory while building pride in their progress. Celebrating effort over perfection will help them stay motivated and confident.
It’s also important to create a calm and encouraging environment. Dancers often take their cues from the adults around them. Speaking positively about recitals, planning ahead, and reassuring your dancer that it’s okay to feel nervous can make a meaningful difference. Nerves simply mean they care.
Preparation ahead of time can ease a lot of stress for both dancers and parents. We recommend packing everything a week in advance so you have time to replace or order anything that may be missing. Double check costumes, shoes, and tights early, and plan your travel time carefully so you can account for traffic and arrive on time. A smooth, well-paced arrival helps your dancer feel calm, focused, and ready to perform.
Recitals are also a wonderful opportunity for dancers to build independence and responsibility. Depending on their age, encourage them to keep track of their belongings, follow directions, and take ownership of their role in the performance. These moments help build confidence that extends far beyond the stage.
Most importantly, remember that a recital is not about perfection. It’s about growth, commitment, and having the courage to perform. At Showcase Dance Studio, we believe dance lessons teach life lessons, and recitals are a celebration of everything your dancer has worked toward all year long.
After the performance, take time to celebrate your dancer and the accomplishment they’ve achieved. It is common practice to present dancers with flowers after they perform, and we are excited to offer beautiful arrangements from the Flower Gallery, prepared in advance and available for purchase at the recital. We will also have fun keepsakes available, including collectible yearbooks, stuffies, candy bouquets, and recital bundles that include a yearbook, yearbook ad, t-shirt, and flowers, all conveniently ready the day of the performance. These thoughtful touches help make the experience even more memorable for your dancer.
At Showcase Dance Studio, we are proud to provide a safe and encouraging environment where dancers feel supported every step of the way. We can’t wait to see them take the stage and share all they’ve accomplished this season.
