Be a Buddy Not A Bully-October

Dear Showcase Dance Studio parents and dancers,

It’s finally fall! And what an awesome first month of classes we’ve had. There is something truly special about getting to see our students start this new year of personal growth; it’s one of my favorite things about being a studio owner, and one of my favorite things about this year’s theme about BELIEF.

As we move into the second month of the season, it’s time for our October Believe Challenge, which is to BE a Buddy Not a Bully. Being a buddy is all about choosing to lead with friendship, and to commit to standing up for what’s right. And this is not exclusive to the dance studio! We hope that our dancers will use this challenge outside the studio classroom, as well as inside.

To BE a Buddy Not a Bully, we are asking our students to:

  • Say something nice to someone who doesn’t have many friends
  • Say hello to someone you don’t know in dance class
  • Sit next to someone who sits alone at lunch
  • Offer to lend a hand if you see someone struggling
  • Say something if you see someone being bullied

We also want to encourage all of our dancers to continue this practice beyond October; to make these gestures a habit. I believe that the ripple effect of our students’ collective efforts can be life changing and long lasting! Let’s be the change-makers in the community. Let’s be the ones who raise up our kids to believe that being a buddy is the only way to be.

I can’t wait to see our students practicing this challenge, and I hope that together, we will agree that to BEabuddynotabully is to be the kind of quiet hero everyone admires.

Sincerely,
Ms. Crystal
