Be Generous-November

Dear Showcase parents and dancers,

We hope you have been loving these first couple months of classes and enjoying our studio theme of BEing awesome and BElieving in yourself!  It’s so rewarding to see our dancers taking part in our monthly Believe Challenges and growing their confidence, building a positive mindset, and gaining friendships.

We’re excited to announce our November Believe Challenge, which is to BE Generous.  We want our SDS students to understand that being generous has to do with opening your heart and extending kindness over and above what may be expected.

I’m encouraging everyone to use November as a time to BE Generous in these ways:

  • Give someone a thoughtful compliment

  • Offer to help a friend practice for dance or study for a test

  • Hold the door open for someone at the studio or at school

  • Introduce yourself to someone in your class you don’t already know

  • Offer a helping hand if you see a friend or classmate who is struggling

  • Donate time, money, or goods to a charitable organization in the community

It’s important to all of us at SDS that we model what it means to BE Generous, which is why we are hosting our annual Operation Turkey food drive for Northern Virginia Family Services November 1st-9th.  We encourage all Showcase families to donate any of the following items: Canned vegetables, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, canned sweet potatoes, canned or instant potatoes, cornbread/muffin mix, Bisquick, canned pumpkin, canned fruit, applesauce, rice, dry or canned beans, soup, pasta and sauces, coffee/tea/cocoa, boxed desserts, Jello/pudding, peanut butter, jelly, sugar and flour

I’m looking forward to hearing about all of the ways our students will be taking part in this challenge!  I hope everyone will BE Generous and discover the positive impact these actions have on their happiness, wellbeing, and relationships with others.

Sincerely,

Ms. Crystal
